Malawi Sable Famrs
Flavors: Citrus, Cedar & Ginger.
Malawi Sable Farm has a global reputation for producing top-quality coffee with environmentally-thoughtful practices. It’s also a pioneer in using solar coffee dryers!
For the design, I wanted to incorporate artistic shapes that are in reference to the many plots of land on this particular farm where the growers are welcomed to live with their families and create an inclusive community. I also designed the Malawi typography for the label.
Jamaica Blue Mountain
Flavors: Citrus & Cocoa.
Named after the mist that casts a blue-tinged glow over Jamaican mountainsides, this coffee is a returning customer favorite, with floral aromas and layered notes of citrus and cocoa.
Designed and illustrated to embrace the feeling of the “blue mist” that this jungle mountain in Jamaica is fondly known for.
Guatemala Santa Isabel
Flavors: Lemon & Chocolate.
Lemon and chocolate notes with a honey sweetness. Distinguished by fragrant aromas and a pronounced sweetness, this cup is a labor of love for the five generations of coffee producers of the Valdes family in Guatemala.
Pattern is reminiscent of illustrative Guatemalan fabric and textiles of the region. Hand-done type.
Paupa New Guinea Roots #1
Flavors: Baked Cherry & Milk Chocolate.
In the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea, rugged ridgelines tower above a landscape of otherworldly beauty. Nearly 1,000 smallholder farmers have committed themselves to the delicate method of sun-drying coffee—a rarity here. For the second year, we’re proud to offer this remarkable coffee.
There are hundreds of ethnic groups indigenous to Papua New Guinea and the island nation is also considered one of the most culturally diverse in the world. People of the highlands engage in colorful local rituals that are called "sing sings". They paint themselves and wear colorful traditional headdresses made of feathers, pearl and animal skins to represent birds, trees or mountain spirits. The design focuses on the culture by representing a close in view of elements that come together to make a geometric style headdress or the elements of traditional ceremonial face.
Brazil Sertao Yellow Bourbon
Flavors: Citrus & Cocoa.
Fazenda Sertão is an 850-hectare farm with 330 hectares planted in coffee of several varieties, including Red and Yellow Bourbon, Yellow Catucai, and Yellow Catuai. The farm also grows bananas and corn and is used to raise dairy livestock. Among the first generation of coffee growers in this area was Jose Isidro Pereira, a dentist-turned–coffee producer who inherited Fazenda Sertão from his mother when she passed away—an incident that ended his dentistry career but put him on a path to coffee farming. In 1949, Jose Isidro met the “love of his life,” Nazareth, who continues to run the farm her husband left in her care. Nazareth and Jose Isidro’s children—Francisco, Luiz Paulo, Clycia, and Sandra—are also coffee producers, carrying on the family tradition.
Pattern is reminiscent of the circular plots of farms that dot the region for particular coffee variety. Hand-done type.
